We have gigafast fibre optic to the premises.
This screenshot is using the public wifi for the test.
Our Davis weather station is mounted halfway up the windsock mast, giving it access to clear airflow (except in north winds).
The information is uploaded to the airfield website, and stored on our own server.
You can view the latest Strathaven Airfield weather by clicking here.
In our radio room we have a display that integrates the follwoing into a single screen:
ATOM giving Flarm, Mode C & S and Pilot Aware
Safe Sky, the mobile phone-based app
Plane Finder, 1090 ADSB,
extended squitter on ADSB,
MLAT with Sky Echo.
Our "Drone Zone" is on the right hand edge of the photo.
All the crewed aircraft circuits are to the right (ie north) so drones fly in the "centre of the doughnut"! By arrangement, the entire airfield is available too.
We have an old hangar 12m wide and 22m deep which is being cleared out to offer an indoor flying space.
Although unheated, it has basic mains electric lighting and a handful of power sockets for battery charging.
Next to the carpark we have a small clubhouse. There is a comfortable and warm lounge, with a kitchenette, toilet and radio room.
The airfield radio room is in the conservatory.
We are working towards converting one of the hangars at Strathaven Airfield into a drone/UAV test and evaluation centre.
The mezzanine floor would provide office, meeting and workshop space.
